Waking up early the morning after the Kentucky Derby is hard enough. But the 14s do it in style. It was a very long day and they fought hard. Starting at 8am and finishing late afternoon to take the Silver! Well Done!!

Growing Up!

Protect them or let it happen? Tough question for us parents!!

As a parent of two great kids and a coach of many more great kids my first reaction to tough times on the court or in life is to run to the rescue trying to find consoling words or actions to immediately fix the issues that arise. I find myself on the fence between jumping in with both feet to help find the solution vs sitting back and to simply listen. The first path is more gratifying - to me - while the second is more supportive to the young person in question. Here's a quick video from a blogger in the youth sports world about how the struggle in sports can/will benefit our athletes in the long run.
